Narnia - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Review

Ok this might be a late review - but here it is. Over all a good movie - but not great. Where the movie was lacking the special effects compensated. In my opinion the snit of a cousin in this movie looks like he had more work done than Joan Rivers. Some of strange looks this kids offers in the 1st half of this movie I found to be incredibly distracting, not to mention the prominent English under bites that everyone (particularly Lucy) seemed to have for whatever reason and used them somehow in their little bags acting tricks. Someone should have put the kabash on that. I say shame on the director here.

My last kind of critique, (but more of a saving grace) would be that Price Caspian's overwhelmingly boyish good looks and level headedness just seemed out of place all over this movie. I would hope it was supposed to be saying or conveying some sort of message, but it was lost on me (I haven't read this book since the 3rd grade). I most likely didn't get some of this movie because just like most books made into movies (unlike the 1st Narnia movie) you felt the chucks of story missing as you're pole vaulted from scene to scene without any explanation.

Again, the special effects were incredible. In the end the story was just too chopped up for me. These books really could have been the next LOTR movies (Lord of the Rings). They spent all that time and money on the effects, why not make the movie longer and actually tell the tale - have it make sense....you just cant cant rush a good story, and these days there really isn't any reason to.
